Prof. Dr. Stefania Degaetano-Ortlieb

Prof. Dr. Stefania Degaetano-Ortlieb is an Associate Professor at the Department of Language Science and Technology at Saarland University. Her research combines text mining and AI-driven data analysis with questions from the digital humanities, particularly focusing on language variation and change.
Within the Collaborative Research Center SFB 1102, she collaborates with Prof. Dr. Elke Teich to study the development of scientific language in English. She is a board member of ACL’s special interest group SIGHUM, has led an AI project on teaching in the digital humanities, and currently supervises two PhD positions in the EU-funded project CASCADE, which explores semantic change in the context of propaganda as well as graph-based, neural modeling of contextual factors.
