After many years of industrial research and strategy experience (Grundig & Intel), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thorsten Herfet now heads the Chair of Communications Engineering at Saarland University. Not only as Dean of Mathematics and Computer Science, but also as Vice President for Research & Technology Transfer, he has been able to steer the fortunes of the faculty and university. Prof. Herfet conducts research in the fields of new graphic and media representations, resilient and latency-safe communication protocols and resilient communication systems. He heads the cooperation platform for the Scheer School and, as the interface between science and practice, ensures that certificates and degree programs meet high academic standards and impart application-oriented knowledge.
