Prof. Dr.-Ing. Georg Frey has been head of the Chair of Automation and Energy Systems at Saarland University since 2009. His research focuses on the modeling, simulation, and optimization of complex automation and energy systems, with particular emphasis on the implementation of Industry 4.0 and the energy transition. He also leads the Industrial Security research group at the Center for Mechatronics and Automation Technology (ZeMA) in Saarbrücken. In addition to his membership in national and international committees and organizations (IEEE, IFAC, VDI/VDE GMA, GI), he serves as Senior Editor of IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering and as Editor-in-Chief for Science at the journal atp – Automatisierungstechnische Praxis.
